Major School Events

Every year, there’s plenty on the go at Hadlow.

Major events include our school open day, our orientation day (for all new students), various sports days, the hub cultural presentation and end-of-year prize giving. We also host special Easter and Christmas services.

Parents are very welcome to attend all major events.

Open Days

Open days are a great way to visit Hadlow and find out what we offer before enrolling your child. We host an open day once a year – talk to our principal, Michael Mercer, about the next open day.

Orientation Day

Orientation Day is for students planning to start school the following year.

About two months before their start date, new entrant students are invited to spend a number of half and full days in our Year 1 hub.

It’s a great way to welcome them, to start building that relationship and to help them make the big transition to primary school.

Sports Day

We run three major sports days every year – athletics, swimming sports and the school cross country.

We hold athletics here at Hadlow. The junior swimming sports is held at the Genesis Recreation Centre in Masterton, while the senior swimming sports is held at Trinity School, St Matthew’s Collegiate in Masterton. Rathkeale College in Masterton hosts our school cross country.

Hub Cultural Presentation

Held in our school hall, the annual hub cultural presentation sees each of our four hubs present a hymn and musical item. We encourage parents to come along – it’s always a great event to attend.

End-of-year Prize Giving

Every year, in early December, we head to St Matthew’s Collegiate for our end-of-year prize giving – a super-fun half day of celebrating student success.

Easter and Christmas Services

At Easter and Christmas we host a special service at the Church of the Epiphany or St Matthew’s Church for parents, staff and children. The services are well-planned and reflective – giving the Hadlow community an opportunity to come together to worship at these two important times of the year.
