Term 4 Week 7 : Monday 4 December 2017

Mt. Holdsworth conquered

Last Thursday, as one of their EOTC options, 22 Hub 4 pupils headed into the Tararua Forest Park. Ably supported by Mr Cloutman, Mrs Milne, Richard White, Scott Abbott, Wynton Smith and myself! A fantastic two days was spent tramping to Powell Hut, (via Rocky Lookout and the Gentle Annie Track), conquering the Summit of Mt. Holdsworth and returning via the River Ridge track, cooling off in the Atiawhakatu river at Donnelly Flat and out to the bus by 1pm on the Friday. The Tararua Forest park is truely a stunning part of New Zealand. We were very lucky to get spectacular views of the Wairarapa and Horowhenua districts from the summit on the beautifully clear Friday morning. (A group of us had walked to the summit on Thursday afternoon and we were greated by cloud and mist).
